THE COMMUNITY SUSTAINABILITY BOOK
What makes a community sustainable? What is “sustainability” anyway? These are the questions that we want to answer over the course of the next year and through the process of putting this book together. As we gather ideas and information, we will be writing them into a community sustainability handbook for families.
Each month for a year we will focus on a different topic, which will be a chapter in the book. So far our working list of topics include:
Note: This is a working list and may change as we go along!
Coffeehouses
We have hosted a number of Coffeehouses at Breakwater Books. At these events, we invite anyone interested in the topic to come and talk about their ideas. It is our opinion that action begins with the sharing of ideas. Everyone has an opinion – let’s hear yours!
Blog
If you missed our coffeehouses, there is still time to let us know what you think of these topics. We have a blog, that is found on Peak Live. Please contribute to the conversation and help make Powell River a better place for us all to live.
How will this information be used in the book?
Throughout the year we will be asking questions, listening to what you have to say, taking pictures, and forming ideas about things we can do to make Powell River better. All of this material (with a lot of organization and finessing of course!) will make up the content of this book - to be published at the end of 2010.
